Job summary

Gough Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join a vibrant shopping centre near Ryde, NSW. You will help drive day-to-day operations, safety and maintenance to ensure exceptional presentation for tenants and visitors.

Working with the Operations Manager and Centre Manager, you will coordinate contractors, monitor KPIs, assist with tenders and ensure WHS compliance while supporting budgets and stakeholder relations.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in facilities or operations management.
• Previous experience within a retail or shopping centre environment.
• Sound knowledge of HVAC, fire, electrical, plumbing and other building systems.
• Strong understanding of WHS and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to confidently manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience using CMMS or property management systems.
• Relevant qualifications in Facilities Management or Building Services will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the centre, including maintenance, cleaning, security, waste management and essential building services.
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain high presentation, safety and operational standards.
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers while monitoring KPIs, service levels and compliance.
• Assist with tenders, contract renewals and contractor performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, fire safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Support incident response, risk assessments and emergency management procedures.
• Assist with sustainability initiatives and monitoring energy, water and waste performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational concerns.
• Maintaining accurate compliance documentation, records and operational logs.
• Assisting with operational reports, budgets and management updates.
• Building strong relationships with tenants, contractors and key stakeholders.
