Description du poste

The Cricketers Arms has is under new ownership, and we’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, lead from the front, to help lead the crew, build on what makes the pub special and take things to new heights.

New ownership brings fresh energy, new ideas and plenty of opportunity to make an impact. We’re looking for someone who wants to get involved, get to know the locals and help shape what comes next.

Whether you’re an experienced Assistant Manager or a switched-on pub supervisor ready for the next step, this could be your next big move.

WHAT’S THE GIG?

Working alongside the venue’s leadership team, you’ll help keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly while building a pub people love visiting and a team people enjoy being part of.

You’ll have your finger on the pulse of the floor, an eye on the details and the confidence to take charge when it counts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Crew: Support, coach and motivate the team, set clear expectations and lead by example. When things get busy, you’re right there with them.
  • Keeping Things Moving: Help oversee daily operations, manage shifts and keep service, presentation and venue standards where they should be.
  • Looking After the Locals: Build relationships with regulars, welcome new faces and handle customer feedback with care and confidence.
  • Watching the Numbers: Assist with rosters, labour costs, stock control and venue performance. A great atmosphere matters, and so does running a strong business.
  • Bringing Fresh Ideas: Help develop promotions, events and everyday improvements that give people another reason to visit.
  • Getting the Details Right: Uphold responsible service, licensing requirements and workplace safety, and help the team understand their responsibilities.
  • Helping Shape the Next Chapter: Work with venue leadership and the wider group to introduce improvements, support the team through change and turn good ideas into action.
OK, BUT WHO ARE YOU?

You’re a people person who knows that a great pub starts with the team behind it. You can organise a shift, solve a problem and still make time for a chat with a regular.

You stay calm when the pace picks up, follow through on what you say and take pride in the venue you help run.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in a pub or hospitality management or supervisory role.
  • A solid understanding of bar operations, customer service and the demands of a busy venue.
  • Confidence leading shifts, coaching staff and building a positive team culture.
  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of labour costs, stock control and business performance.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to put forward fresh ideas.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and other key trading periods.
  • Current RSA and any other qualifications required for the role and the venue’s operations.
  • Most of all, you’re someone who gets involved. You notice when a teammate needs a hand, when a customer needs attention and when something could be done better.
