Job summary

Captain Cook Tavern in Kippa-Ring, Queensland, is recruiting an Assistant Manager to lead from the front on the pub floor. You’ll work with a collaborative team and venue leadership to run seamless service, mentor the local floor team, and build rapport with regulars while upholding high standards across all departments.

This hands-on role involves lifting and manual handling tasks; RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on role requiring physical tasks as part of regular duties.
• Experience in the bar, bistro or gaming room preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience is valued.
• Current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Get to know the locals and build rapport with regulars.
• Support the Publican to run the pub safely, smoothly and with a great vibe.
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of hospitality staff.
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches.

Positioned at the center of Kippa-Ring's retail and community activity, our trade moves fast, from steady weekday lunch rushes and packed family dinners to game-day sports bar crowds and personalized host service in our gaming room.

You won't be stuck behind a computer screen, you’ll be on the floor leading from the front. Working alongside a collaborative group of Assistant Managers, you’ll partner with venue leadership to run seamless services, mentor our local floor team, build genuine rapport with our regulars, and maintain high standards across all departments.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
