Mermaid Waters Hotel on the Gold Coast is seeking an hands-on Assistant Manager to lead busy weekend trade across our bistro, sports bar, and gaming room. You’ll energise the floor, coach a vibrant team, and ensure smooth service from open to close.

In this role you’ll work with the Publican to maintain safety, drive guest satisfaction, and showcase strong leadership. RSA/RSG/RMLV and Approved Managers Licence are essential, plus ability to perform physical tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising bar, bistro or gaming room preferred.
• RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence required.
• Able to perform physical tasks and lift/move stock as part of regular duties.

Working within our collaborative venue leadership group, you won't be trapped behind a desk, you'll be out front driving shift energy, championing guest satisfaction, mentoring a vibrant crew, and ensuring every service runs smoothly from open to close.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
