Job summary

Shoppingtown Hotel is seeking an Assistant Manager in Melbourne. You’ll work closely with the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe, while leading a team of hospitality staff and learning the ropes of pub management.

You’ll engage with locals, manage daily shifts, and ensure safety and high standards across bar, bistro, and gaming areas. RSA, RCG, and Gaming Licence are required, and a can-do, energetic attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in bar, bistro, or gaming room with some supervising responsibility.
• RSA, RCG and Gaming Licence required as per state rules.
• Ability to perform physical tasks safely in a hands-on role.

Responsibilities

We’re on the hunt for our next Assistant Manager to help keep the Shoppingtown Hotelbuzzing and loved by the locals.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands‑on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA, RCG and Gaming Licence as per state requirements
