Job summary

Marine Hotel is seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager to join our venue leadership team and take charge of late-evening shifts, floor control, and closing procedures. This role focuses on late-trade execution and ensuring a safe, vibrant atmosphere.

You'll support the Publican, lead a team of hospitality legends, manage the pub areas, and deliver great service on every shift. RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence are required, with physical duties including lifting and stock delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising in hospitality settings.
• Ability to lead a team through late shifts and peak trade.
• Current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements.
• Comfort with physical tasks (manual handling, lifting).
• Strong customer service and energy on the floor.

Are you a hands-on hospitality supervisor or manager who thrives during peak evening shifts and late-night trade? The Marine Hotel is looking for a driven, floor-owning Assistant Manager to join our venue leadership team and take charge of our high-energy afternoon and closing shifts.

This role is centered on late-trade execution and floor control. With our bistro managed by an expert external restaurant partner, your core focus will be driving bar trade, supporting our seven motel rooms, managing floor energy during late-night hours, supporting our gaming lounge, and executing airtight closing procedures (12:00am Sun–Thu / 2:00am Fri–Sat). We need a confident leader who loves being right in the action, maintaining a safe, vibrant atmosphere, and ensuring absolute compliance on every shift.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
