Job summary

Oscars Group seeks an experienced Assistant Manager 2IC to support the Hotel Manager at Quality Suites Pioneer Sands in Towradgi. You will lead front-of-house operations, supervise staff across housekeeping and guest services, and ensure exceptional guest experiences.

This hands-on role requires strong leadership, organisational skills and the ability to manage busy periods, weekends and holidays. Full-time or part-time options with immediate start are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Manager or similar hotel leadership role.
• Experience with hotel operations, including housekeeping.
• Experience using a hotel PMS, with Choice Advantage or similar systems.
• Strong people management and team leadership skills.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on environment.
• Strong guest service and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the Hotel Manager with day-to-day hotel operations.
• Act as the 2IC and cover the Hotel Manager in their absence.
• Lead, support and motivate the hotel team to deliver high service standards.
• Oversee front office and guest services operations.
• Coordinate with housekeeping to maintain room and property standards.
• Manage guest enquiries, feedback and service recovery.
• Assist with rostering, scheduling and time management.
• Monitor hotel presentation, cleanliness and standards.
• Use the PMS to manage reservations and daily operations.
• Assist with reporting, administration and general hotel management duties.
• Ensure WHS and operational procedures are followed.
• Support busy periods, weekends and public holidays.
• Identify issues and proactively resolve them.
• Collaborate with the Hotel Manager to improve guest and team experience.

About the Venue:

Located in Towradgi on the northern side of Wollongong, Quality Suites Pioneer Sands is a relaxed coastal hotel offering 47 spacious apartment-style rooms, a licensed café and bar, conference and event facilities, an outdoor pool and gym.

With a strong mix of leisure, corporate, group and event guests, Pioneer Sands offers a diverse hotel operation where great service, attention to detail and strong day-to-day leadership make a real difference.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Assistant Manager 2IC to support the Hotel Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of Quality Suites Pioneer Sands.

As the 2IC to the Hotel Manager, you’ll be a visible leader across the property, supporting the team, managing guest experiences and helping ensure the hotel operates smoothly and consistently.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the operation, can confidently manage competing priorities and is ready to take the next step in their hotel management career.

You’ll work closely with the Hotel Manager across front office, housekeeping and general hotel operations, while also supporting the team through weekends and public holidays as required.

The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Hotel Manager with the day-to-day operation of the hotel
• Act as the 2IC, taking responsibility for the property in the Hotel Manager’s absence
• Lead, support and motivate the hotel team to deliver consistently high service standards
• Oversee front office and guest service operations
• Work closely with the housekeeping team to maintain room and property presentation standards
• Manage guest enquiries, feedback and service recovery professionally
• Support rostering, scheduling and effective time management across the operation
• Monitor hotel presentation, cleanliness and operational standards
• Use the hotel PMS to manage reservations, guest information and daily operations
• Assist with reporting, administration and general hotel management duties
• Ensure company, WHS and operational procedures are followed
• Support the management of busy periods, weekends and public holidays
• Identify operational issues and take a proactive approach to resolving them
• Work closely with the Hotel Manager to improve the overall guest and team experience

About You:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Manager, Hotel Supervisor, Duty Manager or similar hotel leadership role
• Experience in hotel operations, with housekeeping experience highly regarded
• Previous experience using a hotel PMS, with Choice Advantage or similar systems highly regarded
• Strong people management and team leadership skills
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Confident managing multiple priorities in a hands‑on operational environment
• Strong guest service and problem‑solving skills
• Professional, approachable and comfortable taking ownership
• Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
• Full Australian working rights (sponsorship not available for this role)
