Job summary

Sharp and Carter in Sydney is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a collaborative finance team. The role offers 1 day work-from-home and proximity to Crows Nest/St Leonard's transport links.

You will support month-end close, GL accuracy, AP/AR, and analysis while building accounting foundations for growth within a stable organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
• Strong communication and willingness to learn.
• CPA/CA in progress or completed preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Complete allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and process journal entries to ensure accurate general ledger records.
• Assist with supplier payments and maintain up-to-date AP invoices.
• Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Respond to internal and external queries regarding financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Provide support during audit and tax engagements.
• Perform general administrative duties to support the finance function.

This is a permanent Assistant Accountant opportunity, ideal for someone looking to build on their accounting foundations and grow their career within a stable organisation.

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and assisting with a broad range of accounting and finance duties. This role offers exposure across the finance function and the opportunity to develop your technical skills in a professional environment.

The responsibilities

• Oversea Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes

• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant
• Good work ethic, fast-learner and keen to get stuck into the role!
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
• Either completed CPA/CA or working towards
