Job summary

Sharp & Carter Sydney North Shore Accounting Clerical is recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join a supportive finance team in Crows Nest/St Leonard's. The role offers permanent employment with 1 day per week of work-from-home and close access to public transport.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will build accounting foundations while supporting month-end/year-end processes and a broad range of finance duties. This is a stable opportunity to grow within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
• Either completed CPA/CA or working towards CPA/CA qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Complete allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and process journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger.
• Assist with supplier payments and maintain up-to-date AP invoices.
• Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Respond to internal and external queries regarding financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Provide support during audit and tax engagements.
• Perform general administrative duties to support the finance function.
