Job summary

Arc is UNSW’s student organisation inviting applications for an Event Casual at Kensington Campus. You’ll work with Event Managers to set up and pack down, support on-site logistics, and assist with student-facing activities to help events run smoothly.

You’ll gain hands-on event experience, join a lively team of students, and contribute to campus life while maintaining Arc’s commitment to safety and professionalism. Flexible hours and a casual rate of $34.06 per hour are offered.

Qualifications

• Current UNSW student (must remain enrolled until end of 2026).
• Comfortable lifting heavy loads with safe lifting practices.
• Reliable team player with problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; approachable and enthusiastic.
• Availability for 2026 O-Week (9–13 Feb) and Discovery Fest (17–19 Feb).
• Consistent availability during term time (approx. 3 × 3-hour shifts per month).
• Desirable knowledge of Arc and Student Programs.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and packing down event infrastructure (marquees, tables, chairs, signage, BBQs, benches, sports equipment, etc.)
• Returning all equipment to correct storage areas
• Supporting event logistics including crowd control and site clean-up
• Jumping into ad hoc event tasks: food handling, helping at Arc stalls, and student-facing activations
• Completing equipment audits and stock takes as directed
• Representing Arc with positivity, professionalism, and a friendly attitude
• Following Arc WHS policies to contribute to a safe working environment

About The Role

As an Event Casual, you’ll work closely with Event Managers to make Arc’s biggest and best events come to life. You’ll help with everything from set-up to pack-down, handle on-site logistics, support student-facing activities, and make sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.

You’ll get hands-on experience in events, work with an energetic team, and help shape the campus culture for thousands of UNSW students.

DESIRABLE

• Knowledge and familiarity Arc and everything that we do – in particular, the Student Programs, Clubs and Sports.
• Leadership experience with large teams.
• Experience in organising events and/or projects.
• Experience in engaging student participants and volunteers online and in person.
