Job summary

Arc UNSW is seeking an enthusiastic Arc Goes To Officer to support Sydney-based trips for UNSW students. You will assist in trip design, train volunteers, manage budgets, and help deliver memorable experiences while keeping safety and inclusivity at the fore.

This role offers flexible hours (about 16 hrs/wk), an hourly rate of AU$35.68, and the chance to build real-world event and leadership skills on a dynamic campus program, with plenty of room for learning and growth.

Job description

Arc Goes To is a program dedicated to exploring Sydney. We take students on adventures to see Sydney’s highlights, hidden secrets, most beautiful landscapes and most delicious meals. The Arc Goes To Officer is responsible to assist in designing the trips, training volunteers to make those trips fun experiences, and monitoring the budget and vision of the overall program.

We're looking for someone who knows their way around Sydney’s landmarks and hidden gems, loves organising, and is passionate about helping UNSW students build meaningful connections with each other.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Program Operations
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to manage and streamline trip planning and ideation processes, ensuring alignment with Arc Goes To program goals and metrics. Responsibilities include overseeing budget constraints, event creation and supervision in Humanitix, handling refund requests, and providing general customer service inquiries from students about the Arc Goes To program
  • Collaborate with supervisors, internal departments and other Arc programs cohesively.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, budgets, volunteer rosters, runsheets, and logistics for small scale events and executing them within set parameters.
  • Maintain up-to-date content across our online platforms (including website, and social media) providing opportunities for students to engage with their communities and in a digital space.
• Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers
• Help to build a passionate community of volunteers and facilitate social, interpersonal and professional development opportunities for them.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication as the point of contact for volunteers to direct and guide them through necessary tasks and events.
• Logistics & Admin
  • Track volunteer data and facilitate sufficient volunteering opportunities for AHEGS accreditation.
  • Track metrics and meet targets around student engagement and participation in relation to program goals & KPTs.
  • Complete risk assessments, safety briefings, and other ad hoc administration tasks.
  • Ensure photos are collected after every session and event as part of documentation

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

SELECTION CRITERIA

• A UNSW student in 2027.
• Passionate about the primary objectives of the program and able to inspire and motivate others
• Understand university student’s needs and an ability to effectively incorporate these into the program's operations.
• Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and public speaking.
• High attention to detail with proven organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines, including the ability to make decisions under pressure.

DESIRABLE

• Experience organising events and actively engaging student participants and volunteers both online and in person.
• Experience in Arc Goes To or previous involvement in other campus activities.
• Ability to work within a budget.
• Interest in Sydney major landmarks, as well as some of its hidden gems.
• Knowledge on trends and new exciting events or places to go in Sydney.
