Job summary

Toowoomba Regional Council in Toowoomba, QLD, AU is seeking an Apprentice Mechanic/Diesel Fitter to join the Fleet & Logistics team at Charlton Depot. This four-year, full-time apprenticeship offers hands-on learning with light vehicles, prime movers, trailers and heavy earth-moving plant, supported by a modern workshop network.

You'll complete on-the-job training, undertake studies per the training plan, and benefit from extra allowances, annual leave loading, and a social club.

Qualifications

• Year 10 education.
• WHS Competency (White Card) CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement
• Sound numeracy, literacy and communication skills.

About the team, facilities & plant

• The Fleet includes light vehicles, prime movers and trailers aswell as heavy earth moving plant.
• Council has a modern fleet that is maintained via workshops located at Charlton, Crows Nest and Pittsworth depots with expansion in progress for field servicing.
• The Charlton depot is a modern, state of the art facility.

What we offer

• Juniors (under 18years) commencing at a base rate of $14.22 gross per hour.
• Adults commencing at a base rate of $26.67 gross per hour.
• In addition to the base rate, earn more with our Critical Worker Trade Allowance:
  • Juniors - additional $2.40 per hour upon commencement.
  • Adults - additional $4.50 per hour upon commencement.
• Plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
• Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 4.00pm.

The preferred candidate will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and a pre-employment medical assessment to assess the ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the position.
