Job summary

Liebherr-Australia Pty Ltd is offering an apprentice Boilermaker position at our Para Hills West Head Office, Adelaide. You will work with experienced tradespeople and mentors, gaining hands-on welding, fabrication and maintenance skills while pursuing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication).

You will learn to read drawings, operate workshop equipment safely and contribute to the repair and fabrication of mining equipment in a supportive, safety‑mocused environment.

Qualifications

  • Year 11 schooling completed; Certificate II in Engineering Pathways highly regarded.
  • Willingness to learn welding, fabrication, maintenance.
  • Interest in fabrication, welding, machining and using hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspection, repair, maintenance and overhaul of mining equipment components and fabricated products.
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manuals.
  • Safely operate workshop machinery and lifting equipment per procedures.
  • Support fabrication, welding and modification activities while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment and follow safety/environmental requirements.
  • Complete all apprenticeship training and practical workplace learning.

Start Date: Monday 18th January 2027

Our Para Hills West Head Office has been home to Liebherr-Australia since 1983 and is a key global facility for the manufacture and repair of large-scale mining buckets. Purpose-built for Australian mining conditions, our fabrication workshop produces buckets for Liebherr's world-renowned mining excavator range.

Kick-start your career as an Apprentice Boilermaker completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication). Working alongside experienced tradespeople and mentors, you'll gain hands‑on experience in welding, fabrication and maintenance while building the skills needed for a rewarding long-term career with a global industry leader.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the inspection, repair, maintenance and overhaul of mining equipment components and fabricated products.
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and technical manuals.
  • Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and lifting equipment in accordance with workplace procedures.
  • Support fabrication, welding and equipment modification activities while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment while adhering to quality, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Successfully complete all apprenticeship training, including trade school requirements and practical workplace learning.
Competencies
  • Successful completion of Year 11 schooling; Certificate II in Engineering Pathways will be highly regarded.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to follow technical instructions and workplace procedures.
  • Interest in fabrication, welding, machining and working with tools and equipment.
  • Ability to learn the safe operation of lifting equipment, workshop machinery and hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with a willingness to learn workplace systems.
  • Reliable, motivated and safety-focused with a strong commitment to learning and professional development.
