Job summary

St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba seeks a qualified health professional to deliver evidence‑based assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions for people with alcohol and other drug concerns. You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop care plans and coordinate referrals to ensure integrated, client‑centred care.

The role emphasizes harm‑reduction, recovery‑oriented support and active participation in supervision, quality improvement, and education within an ADSOP setting.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling and eligible for professional association.
• Experience supporting people with AOD and complex needs.
• Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills.
• Understanding health factors affecting people who use drugs.
• Harm reduction and recovery‑oriented practice commitment.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions for people who use alcohol and other drugs.
• Conduct psychosocial and mental health assessments, intake, brief interventions and ongoing therapy.
• Develop and review multidisciplinary care plans; coordinate referrals.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and provide education on stimulant use to stakeholders.
• Participate in clinical reviews, outcome measurement, discharge planning and documentation.
• Contribute to service improvement through supervision and quality initiatives.
