St Vincent’s Public Hospital in Sydney is recruiting a Counsellor (Level 1-2) for a permanent, part-time role (24 hours per week) in the Alcohol and Drug Outpatients Service, Darlinghurst. Join a dedicated team delivering evidence-based assessment, counselling and therapy to people affected by alcohol and other drug use.

You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop care plans, coordinate referrals, run therapeutic groups and contribute to quality improvement.

Formación

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling or related discipline.
• Eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
• Experience supporting people with alcohol and other drug concerns, including complex needs.
• Experience delivering brief interventions and care to clients with substance use and co‑existing mental health issues.
• Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills.
• Commitment to harm reduction and recovery‑oriented, person‑centred support.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication; proficient with MS Office and EPR systems.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions for people who use alcohol and other drugs.
• Conduct psychosocial and mental health assessments, intake consultations, brief interventions and ongoing therapy.
• Develop, implement and review multidisciplinary care plans and coordinate referrals.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and contribute to community initiatives and education.
• Document within the electronic medical record and participate in supervision, meetings and quality improvement.
