Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking an AI Engineer to design, build and deploy production‑grade AI systems across the Supply business. You will lead agentic AI workflows and ML pipelines, contributing across the full engineering lifecycle from development to deployment, monitoring and optimisation.

This hands‑on role involves collaborating with Data Scientists and Engineers to deliver scalable AI solutions using Azure ML, Databricks and Azure DevOps, writing clean Python, implementing

Qualifications

• Experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong Python programming skills and understanding of software engineering principles.
• Exposure to machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
• Experience or familiarity with AI application development and agentic AI workflows.
• Understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and version control using Git.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• Azure AI Engineer Associate and/or Azure Data Scientist Associate certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Terraform or Bicep is highly desirable.
• Experience building data engineering pipelines using PySpark and Databricks is highly desirable.
• Contributions to open‑source AI projects or published technical work are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy agentic AI workflows and LLM-powered applications in production environments.
• Apply classical machine learning techniques including classification, regression and clustering to solve business problems.
• Implement and maintain MLOps and LLMOps pipelines, including CI/CD, model registry, monitoring and automated evaluation.
• Build, test and optimise AI agent components, endpoints and orchestration layers.
• Develop and maintain AI pipelines using Azure Machine Learning, Databricks and Azure DevOps.
• Write clean, scalable and well‑documented Python code for AI applications, APIs and data processing.
• Support observability across AI systems through logging, monitoring, latency tracking and evaluation frameworks.
• Containerise and deploy AI workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to safeguard testing, guardrails and responsible AI implementation.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Architects, Data Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers and Security Engineers to integrate AI solutions into broader technology ecosystems.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
• Support data governance and responsible AI practices across all engineering activities.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies, frameworks and engineering best practices.
