Aurec seeks a Senior Agile Project Manager for a Defence Intelligence program based in Canberra, ACT. You will lead iterative, Agile delivery and drive data-driven decision-making in a secure Defence environment.
Responsibilities include governance documentation, risk and stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination with capability sponsors and executives. A current NV2 security clearance is mandatory.

Contract/Engagement: Initial contract until 30 June 2027 + extension options
Location & Flexibility: Canberra, ACT
Lead and coordinate complex Defence project activities, applying iterative and Agile delivery approaches to deliver agreed capability outcomes within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Manage the development and coordination of project documentation supporting Defence governance, Capability Gate Reviews, Government submissions, and investment decision activities.
Direct project reporting, risks, issues, dependencies, integrated schedules, and stakeholder engagement activities across geographically dispersed teams.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with Capability Sponsors, operational users, technical delivery teams, and senior leadership.
Support product-based planning, roadmap development, backlog management, and capability increment delivery.
Provide clear guidance, mentoring, and project leadership to junior staff while managing industry supplier relationships.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Technical Toolkit: Strong knowledge of Agile/SAFe frameworks, systems engineering concepts, and integrated project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
Experience: Demonstrated track record leading complex Defence or Government projects within the Defence Capability System (DCS) or Integrated Investment Program (IIP).
Core Capabilities: Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and facilitation skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities across complex stakeholder environments.
Qualifications: PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent Project Management certification.
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must hold a current NV2 security clearance.
