Job summary

Assemble Solutions in Canberra seeks an experienced ICT Project Manager to join a Defence capability project team. The role is a long-term day rate contract based on client site in Canberra with no remote work.

Candidates must hold NV1+ security clearance and have proven ICT project delivery experience in a Defence context, with strong governance, reporting and stakeholder management capabilities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or a related field, with current experience.
• Knowledge of, and experience in, the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) and ASDEFCON.
• Experience with capability acquisition frameworks and project management methodologies in a Defence environment.
• Demonstrated experience delivering ICT-enabled projects, including reporting, governance and financial management.
• Strong knowledge of financial, procurement and risk management principles.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills in an integrated working group environment.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a proven ability to work across internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience managing ICT project schedules, dependencies and deliverables across multiple stakeholders and technical workstreams.
• Knowledge of cyber security governance requirements.
• Desirable: Defence or government capability projects experience.
• Desirable: Knowledge of Defence ICT security accreditation ISM.
• Desirable: Certifications such as CPPM, PMP, PRINCE2 or ITIL.
• Desirable: Cross-functional team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide ICT project management support to senior project leadership.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports and ICT project artefacts.
• Track project progress against timelines, milestones and budgets, providing updates and corrective actions.
• Identify, monitor and manage project risks and issues, including ICT, cyber security, interoperability and system integration risks.
• Assist in preparing project status reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Facilitate project meetings, including preparing agendas and action items.
• Engage with subject matter experts to obtain specialist advice on contracts and ICT integration.
• Support management of project changes to scope, schedule and budget, ensuring changes are documented and approved.
• Support procurement activities, including vendor contracts and compliance with procurement policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve project governance and ICT-related processes.
• Manage ICT-specific project dependencies, interfaces and integration activities.
• Collaborate with the Project Security Manager on security accreditation and information assurance.

THE ROLE

As the ICT Project Manager, you will provide project management support across ICT-enabled initiatives, working closely with senior project leadership to keep delivery on track and risks under control.

• Provide ICT project management support to senior project leadership.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports and ICT project artefacts.
• Track project progress against timelines, milestones and budgets, providing detailed updates and recommending corrective actions where needed.
• Identify, monitor and manage project risks and issues, including ICT, cyber security, interoperability, information assurance, technical obsolescence and system integration risks.
• Assist in preparing project status reports and presentations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
• Facilitate project meetings, including preparing agendas and following up on action items.
• Engage with subject matter experts to obtain specialist advice on contract deliverables, systems engineering and ICT integration activities.
• Support management of project changes to scope, schedule and budget, ensuring changes are documented and approved.
• Support procurement activities, including vendor contracts and compliance with procurement policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve project governance and ICT-related processes.
• Manage and monitor ICT-specific project dependencies, interfaces and integration activities.
• Work collaboratively with the Project Security Manager on security accreditation, information assurance, cyber security and physical security activities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications Required
