Job summary

SummitCare in Penrith is seeking a motivated and creative Chef (Full-time) to join our catering team, delivering delicious and nutritionally appropriate meals for residents.

You will lead meal prep, ensure HACCP compliance, supervise kitchen staff, and maintain service standards in a fast-paced aged care environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality / Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' cook experience in aged care or commercial kitchen.
• Current Criminal Record Check.
• Clear communication with cultural sensitivity.
• Knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
• Experience cooking for large groups and sandwich making.
• Ability to supervise catering staff.
• Ability to work in a team without supervision.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and creative Chef (Fulltime) to join our catering team based at our Penrith home.

As the Cook, you will report to the Manager, Accommodation and Services and be responsible for the day to day preparation, delivery and service of delicious and nutritionally appropriate meals that reflect customer choice.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Food preparation, service, delivery and collection
• Ensuring the Food Safety Program is followed and records kept up to date
• Adhering to Speech Pathology recommendations
• Storage & Inventory Management
• Maintenance & cleanliness of the kitchen & service area
• Ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders
• Providing good customer service and managing feedback in line with SummitCare’s Feedback system

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current Criminal Record Check
• Completed a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality / Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
• Minimum two (2) years' experience in a Cook role within Aged Care / Commercial kitchen environment
• Ability to communicate clearly & effectively ensuring cultural sensitivity is respected
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current HACCP guidelines
• Experience in a wide range of cooking, diet and nutritional requirements
• Competent in food preparation & service, cooking & plating, with demonstrated experience cooking for a large group and in sandwich making
• Ability to supervise and coordinate catering staff with their daily duties
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team and without supervision
