Job summary

SummitCare is seeking a motivated Cook to join our catering team at Wallsend on a casual AM shift with occasional weekend availability. You will be responsible for day-to-day preparation, delivery and service of meals that are delicious and nutritionally appropriate, reflecting customer choice and contributing to a high standard of dining in our aged care homes.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, creative, and customer-focused Cook to join our catering team at Wallsend. This is a casual role focusing on AM shifts, with occasional weekend availability required.

As the Cook, you will report to the Manager, Accommodation and Services and be responsible for the day to day preparation, delivery and service of delicious and nutritionally appropriate meals that reflect customer choice.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Food preparation, service, delivery and collection
• Ensuring the Food Safety Program is followed and records kept up to date
• Adhering to Speech Pathology recommendations
• Storage and Inventory Management
• Maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen & service area
• Ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders
• Providing good customer service and managing feedback in line with SummitCare's Feedback system

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current Criminal Record Check
• Completed a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality / Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
• Minimum two (2) years' experience in a Cook role within Aged Care / Commercial kitchen environment
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively ensuring cultural sensitivity is respected
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current HACCP guidelines
• Experience in a wide range of cooking, diet and nutritional requirements
• Competent in food preparation & service, cooking and plating, with demonstrated experience cooking for a large group and in sandwich making
• Ability to supervise and coordinate catering staff with their daily duties
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team and without supervision
