Job summary

CO.AS.IT. Italian Assistance Association in Melbourne seeks dedicated Home Care Employees to visit clients at home, following individual care plans while respecting culture and preferences.

You will assist with mobility, daily living tasks and personal care, with a focus on maintaining independence and wellbeing. The role includes ongoing training, career development, and pathways to permanent employment, supported by a dedicated service team and company resources.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021) or equivalent required
• Experience in aged care or disability support, home/community settings preferred
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates
• Food Safety certificate
• Valid driver’s licence with own vehicle and insurance
• National Police Check and right to work in Australia
• Italian language skills or understanding of Italian culture advantageous

Responsibilities

• Assist clients to move safely and maintain independence
• Support shopping, transportation and appointments
• Provide companionship, social support and respite
• Assist with personal care including showering, dressing and grooming
• Help with light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and meal preparation
• Record progress notes and report changes in health or safety
• Offer flexible hours with weekday availability preferred
• Work with a dedicated service team

Job description

Since 1968, CO.AS.IT. Italian Assistance Association – has helped Italian Australians stay connected to their culture, community and the support they need through aged care, education, language and cultural heritage services.

About the role

You’ll visit clients in their homes and support them according to their individual care plans. You’ll respect each person’s choices, routines, culture and preferences.

Key responsibilities

• Helping clients move safely and maintain their independence
• Supporting shopping, transport and attendance at appointments
• Providing companionship, social support and respite
• Assisting with personal care, including showering, dressing and grooming
• Helping with light household tasks, such as cleaning, laundry and meal preparation
• Recording clear progress notes and promptly reporting changes in a client’s health, wellbeing or safety
• Flexible working hours, with weekday availability from 8 am preferred
• Support from a dedicated service team
• Ongoing learning and development, with training and opportunities to build your skills

About you

• Either commenced or completed a Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021), or an equivalent qualification
• Experience in aged care or disability support, ideally in clients’ homes or the community
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates
• A recognised Food Safety certificate
• A valid driver’s licence and your own registered, roadworthy vehicle with at least third-party insurance
• Clear communication and documentation skills, and confidence using a mobile phone for rosters and care notes
• A National Police Check and the right to work in Australia
• Italian language skills or an understanding of Italian culture would be an advantage
