Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Administration Officer to provide professional administrative support and customer service to health professionals and clients across adults and school dental services.

The role includes booking appointments, maintaining patient records in ISOH and HBCIS, and contributing to streamlined systems to support the team in delivering high-quality oral health care.

Qualifications

• Provide professional administrative support and customer service to health professionals and clients in the Oral Health service.
• Assist with appointment coordination and enquiries in person and over the phone.
• Contribute to maintaining accurate patient records and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with patients, clients and staff.
• Book and prioritise appointments per wait lists and categories.
• Enter and maintain client records in computerised databases (ISOH/HBCIS).
• Support development and maintenance of internal admin systems to improve team functions.

Become a part of an exciting opportunity as an Administration Officer with Oral Health. You will Provide professional and effective administrative support and customer service to health professionals and clients to both Adults and School Dental of the Oral Health service.

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service deliver a comprehensive range of public dental services across Far North Queensland through the Oral Health Service. The service forms part of Queensland Health's public oral health care system and is committed to improving access to high quality patient centred care. Services are delivered across community‑based clinics and health facilities, supporting preventive care, assessment, treatment, and emergency oral health services for both adults and children.

About you:

In your new role you will:

• Ability to interact professionally and sensitively, have a flexible attitude, communicate clearly and confidently with members of the public, patients/clients and departmental staff both in person and over the telephone whilst adhering to Queensland Health guidelines.
• Ensure clients are booked and prioritised within the timeframe indicated in accordance with the Oral Health wait lists and appointment categories with direction from the Client Services Coordinator.
• Ensure client records are maintained with accurate and timely data entry into a computerised patient database (currently ISOH) and HBCIS.
• Adopt a problem-solving approach to work-based issues as they arise and participate in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices to optimise the team's functions.
