Job summary

Monash University Geelong is seeking a senior QA professional to drive testing across the ACE Program. You will develop and implement testing strategies for complex COTS and bespoke systems, assess quality risks, and collaborate with business, vendor and project teams to deliver reliable, fit-for-purpose solutions.

This fixed term full-time role (24 months) is Band 7 with a salary of $109,342.91 per annum plus super, pro rata.

Qualifications

  • Senior level testing and QA experience in ICT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and risk-based testing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret requirements.
  • ISTQB certification is desirable.

About the role

In this role, you will play a key part in driving quality across the ACE Program by developing and implementing testing strategies for both complex commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-built systems. You will provide expert guidance on quality risks and readiness, collaborate with business, vendor, and project teams, and champion continuous improvement in testing practices to ensure the successful delivery of reliable, fit-for-purpose solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide senior-level testing and quality assurance expertise to ensure enterprise solutions are fit for purpose, meet business requirements, and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Develop and lead testing strategies, plans, and approaches across complex integrated COTS and bespoke technology environments using risk-based testing methodologies.
  • Analyse business, functional, and non-functional requirements to identify quality risks and define appropriate test coverage.
  • Oversee and coordinate system, integration, regression, end-to-end, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), working collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Provide independent advice on defects, testing outcomes, quality risks, and release readiness, supporting informed decision-making by stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing practices and build strong relationships across business, delivery, and vendor teams to achieve successful testing outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, translating complex testing and quality considerations into clear insights, while supporting change initiatives and promoting best-practice quality assurance across diverse delivery environments.
  • Contribute to testing estimates, schedules, and delivery plans, identifying dependencies, constraints, and risks to support effective decision-making and successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess testing progress and outcomes, using professional judgement to identify emerging risks, impacts to delivery, and the need for adjustments to testing approach or priorities.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualifications in IT or a related discipline and several years of experience performing senior level testing and quality assurance.

  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and executing testing across complex ICT environments, including COTS and bespoke systems.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, risk-based testing, and quality assurance principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret requirements and assess system impacts.
  • Formal software testing or quality assurance certification (e.g. ISTQB) (desirable).

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check (funded by the City) and are required to have a WWCC.
