Transdev John Holland Buses is offering a 1st Year Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic role at depots in Port Botany, Randwick and Waverley. You will support a trades team, learning to maintain our bus fleet and gain hands-on experience with engines, drivetrains, electrical systems and diagnostics.

The program runs a 6:00am–2:30pm schedule with a starting pay of 21.13 AUD per hour, plus industry allowances. It includes a 4-year apprenticeship with TAFE training and benefits such as leave and

Responsabilidades

• Assist qualified tradespeople in repair, servicing, maintaining and inspecting buses.
• Repair and maintenance of engines, transmissions and drivelines.
• Diagnose and repair ignition and other electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake, steering and suspension systems.
• Identify, report and repair vehicle defects.
• Support trades staff with spare parts issuing and allocation.
• Clean the workshop and operate light machinery.
• Complete maintenance records accurately using computer-based systems.

Your impact:

As a 1st Year Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will support a team of Automotive Trades staff (Mechanics, Panel Beaters, Spray Painters, Auto Electricians etc) to maintain the safety, reliability and performance of our bus fleet. Our depots are based at Port Botany, Randwick and Waverley (near Bondi Junction train station).

What you bring

Experience & Qualifications:

Must have some proven interest in the automotive industry

Hands-on automotive or mechanical experience including the use of related hand and power tools (preferred).

Must have a current NSW drivers licence (Ps accepted) and be willing to upgrade to HR drivers licence if required.

Commitment to a 4-year apprenticeship opportunity including TAFE study at Wetherill Park

Computer literacy with the ability to record accurate maintenance information

Please note that if you have any relevant automotive or mechanical experience that is not shown on the resume please include a cover letter with as much information as possible about your automotive or mechanical experience

What you will do:

Assist qualified Tradespeople in the repair, servicing, maintaining and inspection our fleet of buses and ancillary vehicles

Repairs and maintenance of engines, transmissions and drivelines

Diagnose and repair ignition and other electrical systems.

Diagnose and repair brake, steering and suspension systems.

Identify, report and repair vehicle defects.

Support Trades staff with spare parts issuing and allocation.

Cleaning of the workshop including sweeping floors and emptying bins.

Operate light machinery such as pedestrian forklift, yard scrubber, floor scrubber, bin lifter.

Complete maintenance records accurately using computer-based systems.

Hours of work:

6:00am-2:30pm Monday to Friday

Depot locations:

Please note that that we have 3 depots (Port Botany, Randwick and Waverley) and there will be a requirement to work at all 3 depots on a regular basis throughout the course of the 4-year apprenticeship.

TAFE study is held at Wetherill Park.

Additional requirements:

National Police Check, medical including drug and alcohol screening, references and proof of work rights.
