Technical Assistant position (m/f/d)

With around 6.500 employees and 8.600 students, the Medical University of Vienna is one of the largest top-level biomedical research and teaching institutions in Europe. The Max Perutz Labs / Max Perutz Labs 2is looking for, expected to begin on December 1 st , 2026, a part-time(20 hours per week) and fixed-term until November 30 th , 2027 (with option to extend) Technical Assistant position (m/f/x).

Your Tasks

• Operation and monitoring of the sorters and analytical machines
• Practical guidance and instructions to students & post-docs on flow cytometers
• Implementation of user training sessions
• Assistance in maintaining FACS equipment
• Thorough documentation of procedures and communication of results to users
• Contribution to laboratory organization and management to ensure seamless workflows (ordering, reagent preparation, equipment functionality)

Your Profile

• Relevant high school diploma (e.g. HTL Rosensteingasse) or equivalent (e.g., bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related fields with significant laboratory experience
• Experience in flow cytometry
• Knowledge of acquisition and data analysis software is a plus
• Solid understanding of basic biology and a strong technical interest in instrumentation
• Strong communication skills with a very good command of English (both oral and written)
• Proactive and self-organized workstyle
• High accuracy and reliability

The minimum monthly salary for this position (Uni-KV, VerwGr. IIIb) is currently Euro 1.565,- gross (14x per year) on a part-time basis and may be increased by taking into account relevant previous experience and other salary components related to the specificities of the job.
