Job summary

GATX Rail Europe is seeking a Team Lead for GCU Claim Handling & Strategic Procurement. You will lead the European GCU claim handling team, shape procurement strategies, and manage key supplier relationships across Europe.

The role combines leadership with strategic negotiation and risk management in a dynamic rail logistics environment. Expectation includes strong leadership, German and English proficiency, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in freight wagon or logistics.
• Solid knowledge of the GCU is an advantage.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Extensive expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and claim management.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Analytical, structured, and solution oriented mindset.
• Hands on attitude.
• Very good command of German and English.
• Willingness to travel (approx. 20%).

Responsibilities

• Lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function.
• Establish, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements with RUs, logistics providers, suppliers, and workshops.
• Functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU Claim Handling Team.
• Full responsibility for claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling.
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies.
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks.
• Collaborate with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal.
