Zusammenfassung

Molecular Devices, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Systems Engineer to sustain products through lifecycle, lead design solutions for customer needs, and collaborate with manufacturing, service, product management, and development teams. On-site in Puch, Austria, reporting to the Global FIT Manager.

You will drive improvements to high‑precision electro‑mechanical and optical systems and support from launch to end‑of‑life, with a focus on problem‑solving and cross‑discipline teamwork.

Qualifikationen

  • Life Science degree in electrical, biomedical engineering or physics.
  • 1–3 years of R&D experience in measuring/detection technologies.
  • Experience in systems integration and verification against requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting across mechanical, electro‑mechanical, optical, and control systems.
  • Good English; German is a plus.

Aufgaben

  • Analyze existing technologies and develop strategies to achieve functionality.
  • Coordinate designs across Mechanical, Optical, Electronic, Firmware and Software Engineering.
  • Build, integrate, test systems, and troubleshoot for optimal performance.
  • Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and sustain improvements.
  • Apply FMEA, structured problem‑solving, Poka‑Yoke, and Standard Work to meet quality/cost goals.

Role Overview

As our new Systems Engineer (m/f/d) you will play a key part in sustaining our products throughout their entire lifecycle—from launch to end-of-life. Beyond supporting existing products, you will also take on a technical leadership role focused on the scoping, development, and implementation of custom design solutions to meet specific customer needs across a broad range of Molecular Devices’ standard product offerings. You will collaborate with a highly skilled technical team and work closely with stakeholders including manufacturing, service, product management, application scientists, and product development. Together, you will drive improvements and enhancements to our high‑precision electro‑mechanical and optical systems. This position reports to the Global FIT Manager and is a part of the Engineering Team located in Puch bei Hallein, Salzburg, Austria and will be an on‑site role.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing technologies and develop strategies to achieve desired functionality.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, coordinating designs with Mechanical, Optical, Electronic, Firmware, and Software Engineering teams.
  • Build, integrate, and test systems, including troubleshooting and debugging to ensure optimal performance.
  • Apply hands‑on problem‑solving skills to identify issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and sustain improvements.
  • Utilize industry‑standard tools and methodologies such as FMEA, structured problem‑solving, Poka‑Yoke, and Standard Work to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives while driving continuous process improvement.
Essential Requirements
  • Life Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 1 - 3 years of R&D experience in measuring and detection technologies.
  • Proven ability to perform systems integration and verification against defined requirements.
  • Creative problem‑solver with strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electro‑mechanical, optical, communication, and control systems.
  • Very good English language skills, German language proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with Microplate Readers and Clone Screening Automation.
  • Experience working professionally with Operations technicians and manufacturing engineers.

Salary and Contract

For this position, the collective agreement for the electrical and electronics industry applies; the minimum monthly gross salary is € 4.341,85 (based on full‑time employment), with willingness to pay more depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Location

This position is located in Puch bei Hallein, Salzburg, Austria and will be an on‑site role.
