GE HealthCare Austria GmbH & Co OG is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to design and develop the next generation of ultrasound consoles. You will own mechanical design activities across the product lifecycle from concept to verification, manufacturing and field support.

You will collaborate with multiple teams including product management, clinical, quality, manufacturing, sourcing and service to translate user and business needs into robust, manufacturable mechanical solutions.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Experience in mechanical product design and development is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills across disciplines and boundaries.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Collaborative, ownership‑oriented mindset with ability to work independently.
  • High motivation, ownership and accountability.

Aufgaben

  • Mechanical design and development for ultrasound systems and subsystems.
  • Align requirements and design decisions with stakeholders across functions.
  • Develop mechanical concepts for architecture, enclosure, heat management and serviceability.
  • Own packaging design including integration, space optimization and manufacturability.
  • Create and maintain drawings, specs, tolerances, and technical reports.
  • Plan and execute verification and validation activities and document results.
  • Assess risks and support design reviews, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure producibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support cross-segment alignment of design methods, standards, interfaces and best practices.
  • Provide end-to-end technical ownership from early design to release and field support.
  • Communicate status, risks, decisions and recommendations clearly to teams and leadership.

Job Description Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Mechanical Engineer to help design and develop the next generation of ultrasound consoles. In this role, you will take ownership of mechanical design activities across the product lifecycle - from early concept development and requirements definition through verification and validation, manufacturing and field support.

Job Description You will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and you will work closely with different engineering teams, product management, clinical, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and service stakeholders to translate user and business needs into robust, manufacturable, and serviceable mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities
  • Mechanical design and development activities for next-generation ultrasound systems and subsystems.
  • Align requirements, interfaces, and design decisions with stakeholders across functions and locations.
  • Support the development of mechanical concepts for system architecture, component design, enclosure design, structural elements, thermal management, and serviceability.
  • Own packaging design, including component integration, space optimization, manufacturability, and transport robustness.
  • Create and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, tolerance analysis, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Plan and execute mechanical verification and validation activities, including test definition, test execution, issue resolution, and documentation.
  • Assess design risks and support design reviews, failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are producible, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Support cross-segment alignment of mechanical design methods, standards, interfaces, and best practices.
  • Provide end-to-end technical ownership from early design phases through product release, manufacturing ramp-up, installation, service, and field support.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly to project teams and leadership.
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • Experience in mechanical product design and development is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
  • A collaborative, ownership-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and influence decisions
  • A high level of motivation, ownership, and accountability
