ams OSRAM is seeking a Quality engineer to drive and oversee quality activities in new product introductions for semiconductor photonics. You will support qualification processes, implement risk-based APQP, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure robust, reliable products.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience, a degree in electrical/electronics engineering or applied physics, and strong knowledge of automotive quality standards.

Qualifications

• Completed university degree in electrical or electronics engineering, or applied physics.
• 2+ years in a similar role in a semiconductor industry; digital photonics knowledge is beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of IATF16949, ISO9001, VDA6.3 and APQP/DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC including PPAP generation.
• Experience with statistical tools such as DOEs, Minitab, JMP.
• Proficiency in English; German and other languages are advantageous.

• Support flawless execution of process/product qualification for fast development of robust products.
• Enforce risk mitigation with FMEA, DFx guidelines and industry standards.
• Execute pre-qual to intercept risks ensuring high success of final qualification.
• Define Quality and Reliability strategy with robustness testing and lifetime modeling.
• Drive and manage quality and reliability issues and continuous improvement.
• Be the main quality contact for process/product development within the BU/BL.

• Drive and manage Quality in NPD/NPI (Risk based APQP, ensure holistic quality planning and execution) for assigned projects, in compliance with defined business processes across all functions
• Support flawless execution of process/product qualification to ensure fast development of robust and innovative products
• Enforce risk mitigation impacting process/product quality with the aid of FMEA, DFx guidelines, dedicated risk assessment tables, industry known specifications and standard
• Execution of pre-qual to intercept potential risks which ensures high success of final process/product qualification
• Definition of Quality and Reliability strategy with focus on robustness test to study technology-based capabilities, including lifetime modeling and predictions
• Drive and manage quality and reliability issues, as well as continuous improvement in all areas of interest
• Key go-to person (contact window) in the Business Unit (BU) / Business Line (BL) for any Quality related-issues during process/product development

• Completed university degree (Bachelor’s / Master’s) in electrical or electronics engineering, applied physics or comparable
• First experience (2+ years) in a similar role in a semiconductor industry. Good knowledge in digital photonics is beneficial
• Strong knowledge of Core Automotive Quality Standards (IATF16949, ISO9001, VDA6.3) and Advanced Core Quality Tools (APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, SPC), including PPAP generation
• Experience with statistical tools (eg. DOEs, Minitab, JMP)
• Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis Tools: 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, Is/Is Not Analysis; first experience in driving customer-facing 8Ds
• Reliability and Qualification skills: Reliability Tests (e.g., HTOL/TC/HAST), Qualification Standards (AEC-Q10x, JEDEC/JESD), Reliability Statistics (Weibull Analysis, FIT Rate, Failure Rate Calculations)
• Proficiency in English; German and other languages would be an advantage
• Willingness to travel: up to 50% (supplier and inter-site visits)
