Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for high‑voltage Transmission and Distribution initiatives based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead design, development, and implementation of HV infrastructure, ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across projects.

You will supervise a team of engineers and technicians, coordinate with regulators and utility providers, and drive projects from concept through commissioning, while managing timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 9 years in electrical engineering with a strong Transmission and Distribution focus.
• Proven experience designing and managing high-voltage infrastructure projects.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is required.
• Experience in the Eastern Cape (Queenstown) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of transmission lines, substations, and distribution networks.
• Develop technical specifications, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams for electrical systems.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of T&D equipment.
• Perform power system studies: load flow, fault analysis, and protection coordination.
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards and regulations.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for T&D projects.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with regulators, contractors, and utility providers.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure construction quality.
