Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a reputable civil engineering firm, seeks a Structural Engineer for on-site work in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead structural analysis, produce drawings, and ensure code compliance for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure projects.

Collaborate with architects and contractors, mentor junior staff, and contribute to proposals while safeguarding lifecycle safety and durability of structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural specialization.
• Pr.Eng or Pr. Tech registration with ECSA required.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design/analysis experience.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD or Revit.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, and civil infra projects.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documents using CAD/BIM.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and building codes.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and support construction.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Assess existing structures and propose repairs or upgrades.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables for structural work.
• Mentor junior engineers and technologists.
• Contribute to project proposals and cost estimates.
• Ensure safety and integrity of structures throughout lifecycle.
