refurbed is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our App squad in Vienna. You will design, build, and maintain core APIs and backend services powering our marketplace and mobile app, while guiding backend decisions to fit the app’s needs.

You’ll work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and designers to deliver robust, scalable solutions. In this remote-first environment, you’ll own operations and monitoring of production systems, review designs across squads,

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of backend design experience in production systems
• Strong proficiency in Go and distributed systems
• Experience with SQL and relational DB design
• Frontend knowledge to navigate app/front-end tasks
• Clarify that you own design decisions and communicate clearly
• English fluency in a European time zone

Aufgaben

• Design, build, and maintain core APIs and backend services for the mobile app and marketplace
• Own operations and monitoring of production systems
• Be the mobile-aware voice in backend decisions across squads
• Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform
• Own design and implementation of new features and services
• Suggest engineering standards and best practices across the department
• Document solutions with diagrams, code comments, and clear documentation
• Mentor junior colleagues and onboard new joiners
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Present insights and results in relevant meetings
• Propagate backend changes to frontend when needed
