Job description

We are LSP - Light Sensors & Photonics, one of three business units within ams OSRAM, advancing the digitalization of light. At LSP, we go beyond traditional sensing- combining light, silicon, and system expertise to enable digital photonics solutions. Our focus is clear: powering next-generation applications in data centers, AR/VR, mobile and automotive, where light becomes a critical interface for data, perception, and interaction. This evolution marks a shift from components to integrated photonics systems -driving performance, scalability, and innovation in high-growth segments.

Embedded within Fab Operations, this role develops and deploys data-driven solutions that directly improve process stability, yield, quality, equipment performance, and operational efficiency. The position works closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, while partnering with IT on infrastructure, cybersecurity, architecture, and enterprise standards.

  • Own the operational development and deployment of the integrative aspects of Advanced Process Control (APC), run-to-run control, virtual metrology, and predictive process models for priority fab processes.
  • Create AI and machine learning solutions for yield prediction, defect analysis, equipment monitoring, root-cause analysis, and process optimization, based on priorities defined by Fab Operations.
  • Develop and maintain lightweight operational applications that standardize and automate recurring engineering analyses, including Cpk evaluation, SPC trend analysis, Pareto reporting, and data preparation.
  • Analyze MES, SPC, FDC, metrology, defect inspection, and equipment data to support daily operations, excursion management, continuous improvement, and management decisions.
  • Own the business logic, analytical content, validation, and user adoption of operational data products; align data pipelines, hosting, access controls, and enterprise integration with IT standards.
  • Work directly with Process, Yield, Defect, Metrology, Equipment, and Manufacturing teams to translate operational problems into sustainable solutions, with IT acting as the partner for platforms, infrastructure, security, and support models.

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including statistical analysis, machine learning, data visualization, and the development of maintainable applications for operational users.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, combined with a hands-on understanding of operational workflows and the ability to communicate with shopfloor, engineering, IT, and management stakeholders.
  • High level of social competence, and collaborative skills, with the ability to build trust, facilitate cross-functional alignment, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering, APC, SPC/FDC, yield analytics, equipment data, or fab improvement programs is strongly preferred; experience with Power BI and enterprise data platforms is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English language, German is an advantage.
