Job summary

fonio GmbH is seeking an IT Operations professional in Vienna to own our internal IT setup end-to-end. You will manage devices, accounts, access rights and automate onboarding for new hires, role changes, and leavers. This is a hands-on role with scale-up impact.

You’ll work closely with People Ops, Engineering, and our external InfoSec lead to build secure, auditable processes and cloud-based IAM, MDM, and SOC 2 readiness. Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in IT administration, workplace IT, or IT operations.
• Hands-on experience with MDM solutions and managing macOS devices.
• Solid knowledge of identity & access management (SSO, SCIM, Google Workspace).
• Automation scripting and/or workflow tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Zapier, n8n).
• Bonus: exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks.
• Structured, pragmatic, low ego. You thrive in intensity.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

You own fonio's internal IT setup end-to-end: every device, every account, every access right. From day one to the last day of every employee. We're scaling fast, and you build the backbone that keeps that scaling secure, automated, and audit-ready.

YOUR TASKS

• Joiner, Mover, Leaver: Own the full employee lifecycle on the IT side. New hires get a ready-to-go laptop and all their accounts on day one. Role changes update access automatically. Leavers lose access the same day.
• Device management: Set up, roll out, and manage all laptops via MDM (e.g. Jamf, Kandji, Intune). That includes enrollment, policies, encryption, updates, and inventory.
• Access management & automation: Own SSO, user provisioning, and permissions across our SaaS stack (Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, and more), and automate as much of it as possible. Every manual step is a step too many.
• SOC 2 readiness: Prepare fonio for SOC 2. Implement controls, document processes, and collect evidence, working closely with our external Information Security Officer. You don't need to be a security expert, but you make sure the groundwork is solid.
• Internal IT support: Be the go-to person for everything tech inside fonio, from a broken laptop to a missing license.
• Tooling: Keep our tool landscape clean. That means licenses, costs, vendor management, and getting rid of shadow IT.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years of experience in IT administration, workplace IT, or IT operations, ideally at a startup or scale-up.
• Hands-on experience with MDM solutions and managing macOS devices (Windows is a plus).
• Solid knowledge of identity & access management (SSO, SCIM, Google Workspace admin).
• Automation skills: scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) and/or workflow tools (Zapier, n8n, Make). AI-native working style.
• Bonus: exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Structured, pragmatic, low ego. You thrive in intensity.
• Fluent English, German is a plus.
