Placements24 is seeking a diligent Food Safety Officer to ensure hygiene and safety across our catering operations in Queenstown. You will develop, implement, and monitor HACCP-based policies and train staff to uphold high standards.

The role requires auditing, investigating safety incidents, and ensuring supplier compliance with regulations. You will stay current with food safety legislation to protect public health and preserve the company's reputation.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Food Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety across all our catering operations in Queenstown. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring food safety policies and procedures, conducting regular inspections, and providing training to staff. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and ensuring the well-being of our clients and employees. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HACCP principles and a meticulous approach to maintaining a safe and healthy food service environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive food safety management systems, including HACCP plans.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of catering facilities, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance.
• Investigate and manage any food safety incidents, outbreaks, or customer complaints, implementing corrective actions.
• Provide training and education to catering staff on food safety, hygiene, and sanitation best practices.
• Monitor supplier compliance with food safety standards and manage corrective actions as needed.
• Stay updated on relevant food safety legislation and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a food safety role, preferably within the catering or food service industry.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety principles, HACCP, and relevant South African food legislation.
• Excellent auditing, inspection, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and training abilities.
• Relevant qualification in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a related field.
