Job summary

Central European University invites applications for a Department Coordinator in the Department of Historical Studies at the Vienna Campus. This is a full-time maternity leave replacement with a fixed-term contract until January 2028.

The role supports academic operations, advises students, coordinates curriculum, admissions, and events, and interfaces with faculty and external partners. Excellent English and strong organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• MA level qualification or higher, ideally with history.
• Familiarity with historical material culture and MA/PhD structure.
• Background in late antique or medieval history preferred.
• CEU work experience or higher education sector experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support academic operations and serve as admin interface between faculty, graduate students, internal units, and external partners.
• Advise students on admissions, course enrollment and program rules.
• Manage records, credits, grades, and course data across CEU platforms (course hub, SITS, E-learning).
• Assist in curriculum planning, scheduling, room booking, and faculty support.
• Assist in admissions, theses, exams and graduation tasks and events.
• Coordinate with students and faculty and prepare meeting minutes and policy documents.
