Job summary

Prewave GmbH in Vienna is seeking a Data Science Engineer to turn vast datasets into actionable intelligence from day one, applying AI by default and balancing judgment with automation.

You will own NLP-driven data decoding, develop and deploy ML models with Torch and TensorFlow, and collaborate across teams to turn research into production solutions. Hybrid work and flexible hours are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related fields.
• 3+ years of experience in developing, deploying and scaling ML models to production.
• Experience with NLP or other ML technologies, Torch or TensorFlow.
• Proficient in Python and Scala.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort with ambiguity.
• End-to-end ownership from prototyping to deployment and monitoring.

We're looking for a Data Science Engineer who takes ownership of turning vast, complex data into actionable intelligence from day one. Someone who uses AI as a default part of how they work - and knows when to trust their own judgment.

• Decode the data - Leverage natural language processing (NLP) to extract meaning from diverse datasets.
• Think like a scientist - Formulate hypotheses, uncover patterns, and pinpoint optimization opportunities.

What we are looking for

You are the right fit if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related fields
• 3+ years of experience in developing, deploying and scaling machine learning models to production
• Experience with NLP or other machine learning technologies, machine learning techniques and tools like Torch or Tensorflow
• Good experience in working with Python and Scala
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Strong problem-solving skills, comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended questions
• End-to-end ownership, from prototyping a model to deploying and monitoring it in production

Nice to have:

• Master’s degree in a related field
• Understanding of cloud-based services, especially Google Cloud Platform or AWS
• Knowledge of NoSQL database systems
• Knowledge of agile software development techniques
• Experience with agent engineering and AI tools like Cursor, Claude etc.

The Package

Minimum EUR 45,738 gross annually based on IT Collective Agreement. Flexible hours and hybrid working.
