About the Role

Our client, a growing architectural practice in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , specializing in sustainable and contextually sensitive building design, is seeking a diligent and skilled Architectural Technologist. This role is essential for developing detailed technical drawings and specifications that translate architectural concepts into practical, buildable solutions. You will work closely with architects and project managers to ensure that designs are technically sound, compliant with building regulations, and efficiently executed. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong software skills and a solid understanding of construction processes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects within a supportive team environment in the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and details, using CAD and BIM software.
• Develop technical specifications and schedules for materials and finishes.
• Coordinate drawings and specifications with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
• Ensure all design documentation complies with National Building Regulations and SANS standards.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve technical queries.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documentation.
• Maintain drawing registers and project documentation.
• Collaborate with contractors and consultants during the construction phase.
• Research and advise on appropriate building materials and construction techniques.
• Support architects in design development and problem-solving.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential.
• Good understanding of South African building regulations and construction practices.
• Strong technical drawing and detailing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Ability to work effectively in a team and manage workload efficiently.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
• Experience in residential and commercial projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices is an advantage.
