Job summary

ABB Argentina seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer for System 800xA based safety systems. This onsite role focuses on executing complex service tasks, planning site work for large projects, and driving customer satisfaction while coordinating with project teams.

You will coach technicians, identify new service opportunities, and ensure effective communication of timelines and results, contributing to ABB’s safety and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate engineer in instrumentation or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience, at least 5 years as customer support / project / service engineer of System 800xA based safety systems (Oil & Gas / Power & Water).
• Hands-on experience with 800xA based integrated control and safety system (hardware and software).
• Knowledge of Functional Safety management systems (IEC61511/IEC61508); relevant certifications preferred.
• Experience in industrial networking and cyber security for 800xA based systems.
• Familiarity with Modbus RTU/TCP and OPC protocols.
• Analytical, self-motivated and adaptable, aligned with ABB’s service and digital portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior customer service and manage service work per customer order and expectations.

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance.

The work model for the role is: Onsite.

This role is contributing to the PAEN-Qatar. Main stakeholders are PAEN.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Performing complex field service tasks, identifies technical problems, and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
• Planing and preparing site work for larger project team and manages related subcontractors at site.
• Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectations.
• Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
• Taking actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB, in close cooperation with customer and other ABB teams.
• Coaching technicians and engineers and supervising complex site activities.

Qualifications

• Graduate Engineer in instrumentation, Electrical or Equivalent Engineering degree.
• Must have minimum 8 years of experience of at least 5 years as customer support / project / service engineer of System 800xA based safety systems preferably in Oil & Gas / Power & Water industry.
• Good hands-on experience in system 800xA based integrated control and safety system (both hardware and software) is a Must-have with AC800MHI library-based application development - project & commissioning
• Knowledge of FSMS (functional safety management system) is a Must-have for this role and valid Functional Safety certifications preferred such as TUV FS engineer, ABB certifications etc.
• Knowledge of Functional safety technical standards IEC61511, IEC61508 and corresponding system engineering practice experience.
• Hands on Experience in industrial networking, network switch configuration
• Hands on experience in Cyber security for 800xA based systems
• Be an analytical thinker, self-starter, resilient and highly adaptable- in line with ABB's latest advance service & digital portfolio
• Hands on Experience in industrial communication protocols like Modbus- RTU & TCP, OPC, etc.
