Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in a hybrid role. You will own reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics capabilities on AWS-first infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform/SRE with >=2 years data engineering
• Deep AWS core services expertise: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch
• Proficiency with IaC tools Terraform and/or AWS CDK
• Strong CI/CD experience across GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
• Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes)
• Proven observability design: metrics, logs, alerts for data/platform services

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL and related data infra
• Build and manage AWS-based infrastructure using IaC (Terraform / CDK)
• Own the observability stack: metrics, logs, alerts, dashboards
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling and reusable pipeline templates
• Manage container and compute infra (Docker, ECS/EKS, Lambda) for data ingestion services
• Operate workflow orchestration (Airflow/MWAA, Step Functions) and upgrades
• Build and maintain AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for data ingestion
• Enforce security: Secrets Manager, least-privilege IAM, network segmentation
• Collaborate with data/security teams to translate requirements into scalable infra
• Lead incident response and post-mortem improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code/design reviews
