EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Server-side Engineer to develop and enhance a Backend-for-Frontend service layer that powers high-traffic mobile experiences for clients worldwide. You will collaborate with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to deliver dependable APIs and high-quality code.

Responsibilities include architecting BFF APIs, building REST endpoints, and improving performance while reworking legacy code for maintainability.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of server-side Java development experience.
• Spring Boot expertise for building and maintaining services.
• Proficiency in REST API development and integration with legacy services.
• Strong problem solving and performance optimization skills.
• Experience with unit testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient in English (B2 or higher).

We are looking for a Senior Java Server-side Engineer to develop and enhance a Backend-for-Frontend service layer that drives high-traffic mobile experiences for clients around the globe. You will work alongside engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship dependable APIs and top-tier code. Join us to help shape the next wave of mobile platforms!

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop the Backend-for-Frontend API layer consumed by mobile applications
• Build REST endpoints and service contracts that enable mobile user journeys
• Enhance service performance via profiling, analysis, and focused improvements
• Rework legacy code to boost maintainability, readability, and reliability
• Produce clean, testable code and sustain strong unit test coverage
• Connect with existing backend services and manage bespoke and legacy dependencies
• Resolve defects by identifying root causes and delivering safe, timely patches
• Partner with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship features
• Support CI workflows and build tooling to keep delivery running smoothly
• Exchange ideas and champion great user experience through API and data design
• Eliminate unnecessary code and cut technical debt to keep the codebase healthy

Requirements

• Qualifications in Computer Science or related field (Bachelor’s), or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience building server-side applications in Java
• Competency in solution design for open-ended problems
• Expertise in Spring Boot for building and maintaining services
• Proficiency in REST API development, including integration with legacy services
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures for efficient implementations
• Skills in unit testing with a test-driven mindset
• Familiarity with build tools and experience with CI workflows
• Capability to analyze and optimize performance for backend services
• Proficiency in troubleshooting for debugging and fixing production issues
• Showcase of self-starter mindset with ownership and proactive communication
• Skills in senior-level collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Skills in Docker for containerizing and running services locally and in pipelines
• Background in Gradle for builds and dependency management
• Familiarity with GraphQL for designing and consuming GQL APIs
• Proficiency in Kotlin for server-side development on the JVM
• Knowledge of RAML for API modeling and documentation
