Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Unified Detection team, building and deploying large-scale threat detection services. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent practical experience).
• 4+ years of experience developing software with proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure or similar), and containerised workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with observability or monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, or similar), preferred.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, secure coding foundations, and automated testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to moderately complex features and components, ensuring your work integrates into the larger detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code – leave the codebase better than you found it.
• Begin owning smaller features or components, ensuring quality through testing.
• Work with minimal supervision on routine tasks and seek guidance when needed.
• Anticipate blockers, communicate risks early, and collaborate to address them within timelines.
• Collaborate with teammates – listen, incorporate feedback, and contribute to reviews and discussions.
• Participate in code reviews and retrospectives, applying feedback with a growth mindset.
