Job summary

Proofpoint is hiring a Software Engineer III to join the Unified Detection team. You will build and deploy large-scale threat detection services, contributing to core detection capabilities across email, cloud, and SaaS platforms. This role emphasizes clean code, testing, and ownership of features within a fast-paced engineering culture.

You will work with distributed systems, cloud environments, and containerized workloads while growing your expertise in cybersecurity and threat detection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• 4+ years of software development experience with Python or Golang.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Knowledge of observability tools (Grafana, Kibana) is preferred.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to moderately complex features and components within the detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code aligned with product goals.
• Take ownership of smaller features and ensure quality through testing.
• Work with minimal supervision on routine tasks and seek guidance when needed.
• Anticipate blockers, communicate risks early, and meet timelines.
• Collaborate with teammates and participate in code reviews and retrospectives.
