Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Unified Detection team. You will help build and deploy large-scale threat detection services, writing clean, well-tested code and growing with a strong engineering culture.

You’ll work on detecting and analyzing threats across email, cloud, and SaaS platforms, taking ownership of features and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of software development experience with Python or Golang.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud environments, and containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Kibana) is a plus.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, secure coding, and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to moderately complex features and components, ensuring your work integrates into the larger detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Begin taking ownership of smaller features or components, ensuring quality through testing.
• Work with minimal supervision on routine tasks and seek guidance when needed.
• Anticipate blockers, communicate risks early, and collaborate to address them on time.
• Collaborate well with teammates and participate in code reviews and discussions.
• Participate in code reviews and retrospectives with a growth mindset.
