Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Unified Detection team, building large-scale threat detection services. You will work on cutting-edge tech to analyze and produce intelligence on threats from cyber actors, contributing to Proofpoint's security product offerings across email, cloud, and SaaS.

You will develop features, write clean code, and grow within a fast-paced engineering culture while collaborating with a global team to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent practical experience).
• 4+ years of software development experience with Python or Go.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.), and containers (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana).
• Experience with RESTful APIs, secure coding, and automated testing.
• Interest in cybersecurity, malware analysis, or threat detection is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Develop moderately complex features and integrate into the larger detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient code and test thoroughly.
• Own smaller features or components with a focus on quality through testing.
• Work with minimal supervision on routine tasks and seek guidance when needed.
• Identify blockers early and communicate risks to the team.
• Collaborate with teammates and participate in code reviews.
