Job summary

Howard Financial is seeking a proactive, tech-forward Controller to lead month-end close and financial reporting for a portfolio of Short-Term Rental and Hospitality clients. You’ll review work done by accountants, manage trust accounting, and partner with senior leadership to drive process improvements.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in accounting (2+ in a Controller role) and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting, including 2+ years in a Controller/Accounting Manager role.
• Experience in Short-Term Rentals, Property Management, or Hospitality.
• Solid command of US GAAP and trust accounting. Multi-entity experience is a plus.
• Proficient in QBO, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct, plus PMS software (Guesty, Streamline, Track, or similar).
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close and US GAAP financial reporting for a portfolio of STR/Hospitality clients, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, and financials prepared by accountants and bookkeepers, with constructive feedback.
• Manage owner-fund and trust accounting, including reconciliations and owner statements with precision.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for client stakeholders, explain financial results and cash flow to leadership.
• Identify inefficiencies, strengthen controls, and standardize workflows as portfolios grow.
