Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant with hands-on real estate accounting experience to own books for a portfolio of Development & Real Estate clients. You will run month-end close across entities, manage project-level financials, and serve as the primary accounting contact for clients in a remote setting.

You will collaborate with CPAs, support audits and tax filings, and review junior staff work to improve close processes.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 4+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 in real estate.
• Solid US GAAP knowledge and full-cycle accounting.
• Experience with multi-entity books and intercompany activity.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and a real estate platform.
• Strong Excel/Sheets skills.
• Advanced English, both written and spoken.
• Remote work ability and client communication.

Responsabilidades

About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Accountant with hands-on real estate accounting experience to own the books for a portfolio of Development & Real Estate clients. You'll run month-end close across multiple entities, keep project and property financials clean, and be the go-to accounting contact for your clients.

Location: Remote, EST Time Zone

What You’ll Do

• Own the full month-end and year-end close for multiple real estate entities (LLCs, partnerships, property-level and holding entities).
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Track development projects: construction-in-progress (CIP), cost capitalization, job costing, and placing assets in service.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation, and track loans, draws, interest, and debt covenants.
• Account for rental revenue, tenant receivables, security deposits, and CAM reconciliations where applicable.
• Prepare financial statements and reporting packages: balance sheet, P&L, cash flow, budget vs. actual, and project cost reports.
• Support investor and partner reporting, capital contributions, and distributions.
• Coordinate with external CPAs on audits, tax filings, and 1099s.
• Review the work of junior accountants and bookkeepers and help improve close processes and documentation.
• Communicate directly with clients in English: answer questions, flag issues early, and explain the numbers clearly.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Contador Público or equivalent).
• 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in real estate: development, property management, or investment entities.
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting, from transactions to financial statements.
• Experience with multi-entity books, intercompany activity, and consolidations.
• Hands‑on experience with CIP, cost capitalization, fixed assets, and debt accounting.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or a real estate platform such as Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or Sage Intacct.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation workbooks).
• Advanced English (C1 or higher), written and spoken, for daily client communication.
• Organized and deadline‑driven, comfortable managing several clients at once in a remote setting.

Nice to have

• Experience at an outsourced accounting firm or a US CPA firm serving real estate clients.
• Familiarity with ASC 842 lease accounting and investor waterfall distributions.
• Exposure to construction draw requests, lender reporting, or fund accounting.
• Experience with automation tools such as Bill.com, Ramp, Dext, or similar.
• CPA or local equivalent certification, or progress toward one.
