Job summary

Howard Financial is a tech-forward outsourced accounting firm that operates fully remote with a global team. We seek a Senior Controller to own accounting and financial reporting for multiple US-based clients while leading the accounting team.

You will serve as the senior point of contact for clients and ensure high standards across deadlines and deliverables, with Real Estate experience considered a strong plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in controller roles.
• Experience managing multiple clients in outsourced accounting or similar client-service environment.
• Experience leading and developing accounting teams.
• Strong command of US GAAP and month-end close.
• Excellent written and spoken English with client-facing confidence.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to learn new platforms quickly.
• Ownership mindset with attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to make judgment calls under pressure and reprioritize when deadlines collide.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple client engagements, manage month-end close and financial reporting on time and to standards.
• Serve as senior client contact, lead recurring meetings and explain results clearly.
• Lead, coach and review work of accountants; assign and prioritize tasks.
• Review reconciliations, journals, and financial statements to ensure accuracy.
• Apply US GAAP to complex transactions for each client.
• Identify process gaps and implement cleaner, faster processes across portfolio.
• Handle issues proactively and escalate when necessary.
