Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a part-time Data Engineering and Infrastructure Lead to audit AWS architecture, CI/CD processes, and ETL decisions in an advisory capacity. You will review SageMaker-based pipelines, mentor the infra team, and shape governance for development workflows.

This role focuses on AWS, DevOps, and data engineering best practices, with 50% time initially and potential to scale, reporting to leadership for high-level risk and readiness.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on AWS experience with ECS/Fargate, ECR, RDS Postgres, S3, SageMaker, EventBridge, VPC/ALB/CloudFront, IAM.
• Fluency in Infrastructure-as-code, specifically Terraform.
• Proven track record auditing CI/CD pipelines and SDLC governance (e.g., Alembic for schema/version control, environment separation, release gating).
• Strong data engineering depth for defensible opinions on ETL/ingestion architecture (managed tools vs. custom builds).
• Experience evaluating AI-assisted / LLM-assisted development workflows (Claude Code) for engineering quality and cost governance.
• Comfortable operating in a part-time advisory capacity (50% stepping down to 25%) as a strong communicator who can mentor less experienced engineers.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Responsibilities

• Audit the AWS architecture across live applications (ECS/ECR, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudFront, SageMaker-based MLOps).
• Review CI/CD processes and SDLC governance; suggest release gating and environment separation.
• Evaluate Claude Code usage for PR generation and automated reviews against standards.
• Provide opinions on ETL/data-ingestion architecture, managed vs custom tools.
• Mentor the build/infrastructure team; drive AWS, DevOps, CI/CD practices.
• Offer recommendations and direction based on audit findings to leadership.
• Report risks and readiness to leadership in clear terms.
