Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking an experienced Level 2 accounting support specialist to handle complex US accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll inquiries. You will investigate escalated issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and coordinate with internal experts while communicating findings clearly to customers.

The role requires strong accounting knowledge, tax expertise, and independent problem-solving in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in a Technical Support role with exposure to security or enterprise products.
• Strong Linux command line proficiency and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience with grep/regex/log scraping and debugging large log sets.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; able to explain complex topics to nontechnical users.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced Level 2 technical support for complex US accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll inquiries.
• Investigate and resolve escalated tickets, coordinating with internal teams as needed.
• Review and troubleshoot bookkeeping discrepancies, reconciliations, and accounting transactions.
• Guide customers on tax notices, filing statuses, and tax return related questions within authorized scope.
• Support payroll questions, setup, processing issues, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate technical findings clearly via Zendesk, email, and scheduled phone support.
• Document resolutions and maintain accurate customer records; identify recurring issues to improve workflows.
